Episode 4: The Physical Therapy World

In this week's episode, Kellen highlights a business run by an old friend of his. Dr. John Seivert, the owner of Body Logic Physical Therapy. Body Logic is an award winning physical therapist in Grass Valley, winning “Best of Nevada County” nine times since 2009. Located just 5 minutes from downtown, he recently bought a brand new office to house his scaling business. The new office is spacious and beautiful, perfectly outfitted to fit all of his client’s needs. John believes that keeping his clients out of the office and on their way to healthy rehabilitation is the key to success.
Kellen: Hello everyone and welcome to another episode of Striking Gold in the Local World. I'm your host, Kellen Lake, and today I'm joined with Dr. John Sievert, the owner of Body Logic Physical Therapy right here in Grass Valley. Doctor, thank you for doing this with us.
John: You betcha.
Kellen: Good to see you, good to see you. Dr. John worked on me — what was that — probably 10 years ago?
John: Yeah, exactly!
Kellen: There you go. So tell us a little bit about your business and why you started it.
John: I moved to town in 2000 to work at the hospital here — Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital — and I saw the opportunity to open up a private practice because a lot of the Physicians were sending me patients who really wanted top quality care. I had the opportunity and I jumped on it.
Kellen: That's awesome. What is something that you appreciate about Nevada County in particular?
John: Well, that was probably the reason we moved here, you know. We had two small kids and were looking for a place after living in the Bay Area where I lived in Santa Cruz. And what we did is basically traded the ocean for the mountains by moving up here. We had great schools great outdoor adventure activities, you know; the ski resorts, Tahoe is so close. So a place to live where it's — you know — Striking at Gold really was great. It was so awesome to be able to be in such a rural community but still have a City Life.
Kellen: Awesome. This area of California is known to be where the Gold Rush started. What is something that you really treasure in taking care of your clients in the local community?
John: Treasure. Gold. My goal in life is to empower my patients to take care of themselves. So I'm Mr “I'm going to teach you how to be your own physical therapist” — That's what I say to all my patients. I'm going to teach you how to stay out of my office, how to get better, how to continue to stay healthy, flexible, strong, and take care of yourself.
